Caleb Berechree, A feminine moment (June theme: Portraiture)

I am very happy with this photograph of my fellow classmate. I wanted to play with my camera and try something unique, so I decided that changing my classmates' visual identity might capture the essence of this assignment. In this portrait my model wore certain clothing to match objects in the background. The green scarf around his neck matches the hue of the leaves of the trees in the distance. The blue shirt matches the fake blue turf behind. My classmates’ shoes match the hue of the dead grass behind (which also shows a sense of the season of when this portrait was captured). The model's beard has great texture and stands out well against his skin colour and also matches with the bark that has been placed around this gravel section. The texture in the gravel is diverse in its shading and matches with the trunks of the trees in the distance. I deliberately captured the model and the tunnel in the centre of my image as I felt it would have more the desired effect in imagery. I can see the leading lines engraved inside the tunnel for great effect in this image There are many reflections and shadows eg. the high heels in front of the model and even the shadows within the tunnel. I was grateful that my model was compliant with the varying poses while trying to capture what society perceives as ‘feminine’ and I asked that he show me a contented facial expression. I decided to edit this photo as I wanted to give an impression of warmth. The only thing upon reflection that I would change in this image would be to replace the white flowers with bright red roses for greater impact.
