Paul Irvine, Amazing Arachnids of Western Australia (Animal & Nature 2021)
A series of 4 different arachnids all found in local reserves or around home in Western Australia. Shooting up close and personal in macro has allowed the smaller details to be shown and almost a personality of the spiders to shine through. Shot 1 - "Mummy" Daddy Long Legs with a recently hatched egg sac and her babies. Hand held focal stack of 5x pics shot in my back yard on a ceramic plant pot Shot 2 - The Christmas or Jewel Spider, Austracantha minax with a recent excuvae of a net casting spider stuck in the web. Shot 3 - An Isopdella species of huntsman found moulting on a Koppers Log fence post in a local reserve Shot 4 - A Menneus species of Net Casting Spider that was working against a banksia tree to target insects crawling up at night in a local reserve Gear: Shot 1 - Canon 5Dmk3, Canon MP-e65 lens and diffused twin head flash Shots 2-4 - My trusty old Canon 550D, Canon 60mm EF-s lens and a single head diffused flash.
