Natalie Cunningham, Bubble Storm (Umbrella )

This photoshoot did not go to plan - it is hard to describe what I had envisioned, but think of the artworks of Lora Zombie which was more what I was going for. Quirky and a bit strange. However the infestation of flying rainbow bubbles, the anticipation to hold the prized rainbow umbrella (a photography prop so my kids don't get to use it often) meant that this photoshoot took a less controlled turn and something raw and authentic. The joy, fun and excitement captured in a moment during what my children called a "Bubble Storm" taught me as a photographer how it is far more valuable and impactful to embrace spontaneity than to meticulously and rigidly stage an image.
