keiko Ellis, CHASING FUJI SAN (TRAVEL 2024)
Mount Fuji is a beautiful active volcano that symbolises Japan. In Japan the mountain is referred to as 'Fuji san' as mark of respect. Fuji san is 3776 metres high and is the highest peak in Japan. I was born in Japan on the northern island of Hokkaido. I have never previously visited Fuji san. So I planned a 'Chasing Fuji san' travel schedule for my recent visit to Japan. My plan was to take images of Fuji san from locations from which normal ordinary people would view Mount Fuji. I visited the beach area of Shichirigahama in Kanagawa prefecture, Bunkyo civic centre in Tokyo and Lake Tanuke in Shizuoka prefecture. These locations are regularly visited by local people.
