Judy Knowles, Chestnut Teals (ANIMAL & NATURE 2024)
Creatures that spend a significant amount of time in the water often appear to be made of water, or at least be a part of the water they inhabit. The magic of these images, for me, is firstly the combination of the fluidity of the water on and around the colourful male Chestnut Teal ducks, so that they appear a part of the water, not simply in it or on it. Secondly, the kaleidoscope of colours of both the ducks, and the pinks and greens reflected in the water they are so beautifully at home in, could have easily been dreamed up by Monet himself.
