STUART BELL, CRYSTALS IN THE KOOTENAY’S (LANDSCAPE 2024)

In this series we explore the relationship between water and frigid air temperature. Sloshing around this mountain creek at an unapologetic -17c was made worse by the ice cold, whooshing air, and water vapour from the falls behind me. The downdraught was not only freezing my camera and tripod but also helping create these remarkable and delicate ice formations. It goes without saying that being prepared mentally and physically is key to being able to hack it in these conditions. Close to 3 hours later, my gear and I had had enough!
