Michaela Ehrentraut, Deadvlei Moon Walkers (B&W 2023)
I was lucky enough to visit my dads country of birth, Namibia, after so long of being restricted of travel. I have never felt so distantly connected to a country without ever setting foot there before. Photography allowed me to see its beauty in a whole other way and appreciate every single detail it offered me through the lens and in reality too. I managed to capture these hikers in an incredible moment where they were crossing the edge of the dune as the sun was peaking right over them. Deadvlei is a 900 year old dead forest in the middle of Namibia's desert, the trees were producing these incredible shadows as the sun was moving through the forest. It really left a feeling in me, that I will never truely understand nor ever forget in my lifetime and I have my dad to thank for that.
