Guy Skillen, Down time on the run (PEOPLE 2024)

These pictures were taken on the Indian Ocean near Port St Johns on the East coast of South Africa during the Sardine Run in 2024. When times are tough out there, people often exchange stories like Pierre and Dennis are here. I didn't know at the time, but the photo of Brocq shows him 20 minutes after losing contact with the spotter plane and, even though he looks very cool in this photo, he was quite concerned. This photo was "taken from the hip". Rolfe is half asleep and soaked by the swell as we travel down the coast. I particularly enjoy taking photos in which the subject is unaware.
