Mike White, Dusk till Dawn: Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (Landscape 2018)

New Zealand's Aoraki Mount Cook National Park forms part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. (1) A late afternoon walk on the Hooker Valley Track sees the valley cast in shadows while sunlight illuminates the face of Aoraki Mount Cook. (2) Light from the setting Moon falls across the ranges with icebergs calved from the Hooker Glacier floating amongst the still reflections. (3) On the evening of a new Moon, the Milky Way spills across the sky painting the scene with the light of billions of stars. (4) The first light of dawn spreads across the eastern face of Aoraki as it towers above the Tasman Glacier Lake.
