James Rolevink, Emu Chicks meet Abbey Road (Single Shot 2021)

Hiltaba Nature Reserve, Gawler Ranges (NW of Adelaide) was a sheep station after settlers took control of what must have been one spectacular, ancient landscape back in the 1800s. Ironically, the local Aboriginal community were instrumental in their survival, having showed them where to find bush tucker and water holes. The transformation since Nature Foundation started rehabilitating is nothing short of spectacular. These four emu chicks were in a hurry to catch up with Dad after getting lost in the old sheep yards. Couldn’t help but think of the Abbey Road album cover when they ran off in formation. Australia really is the lucky country, and we must protect and restore its extraordinary biodiversity for future generations.
