Aidan McCorry, Equilibrium Of Light | Vivian Chun (PEOPLE 2024)

The title, had been a terminology that had been a prominent idea for quite a while now. A perfect harmony of illumination and shadow, capturing the essence and delicate balance that defines an art form. But in a way it also represents an idea of being balanced in its meaning, what you may see in these images will be different to how I see them. And that’s exactly what I want these images to achieve. The perfect balance of emotion to allow the viewer to make their own judgment of what they see in the images. Balance is also able to be manipulated. Tipped either way to whatever the strongest pull of energy it may get. Vivian of course was key to this set being such a great success. Getting the lighting just right took a lot of fiddling and rearranging of lights and polyboards. Even though we had the studio for 5 hours, it was a constant experimentation as to how to light the area and where I wanted the lights to be.
