Simone Gorman-Clark, Fire Within (CREATIVE 2022)

‘Fire Within’ is a self-portrait that was created in total darkness. Trying to remain as still as possible, I painted myself with light to create the image all in camera within one single long exposure. Fire Within is a visual representation of how long-term disenfranchised grief smothers the fire within, almost to the point of extinction, and how a nurtured creative passion has the power to ignite the dampened embers into a raging transformative fire.
