Kate Friebe, Floodwaters - Gold Coast (LANDSCAPE 2022)

At the end of February 2022, almost a week of torrential rain and record flooding in eastern Australia caused widespread devastation, with houses submerged, vehicles and equipment washed away or smashed, thousands forced to evacuate their homes and a number of deaths. The forces of nature can be incredibly powerful and catastrophic, but equally, that sheer power inherently has a raw beauty within it. I took this portfolio of images to capture some of the beauty in the floodwaters gushing over the Oxenford Weir on the Gold Coast.
