John Peters, Into the Brush (JUNIOR 2024)

Callistemons, most commonly known as Bottle brushes, are Australian native plants. One bottle brush had been hanging lower than all the others, isolated from the rest. With my tripod setup, and image composed, all I had to do now was wait for a honey bee to fly beside this bottle brush. As for the camera body I used, I had to use manual focus for more accurate results, keeping my focus at the very center of the bottle brush, hoping that I would get a shot of a bee flying at the correct focus depth. While there were plenty of honey bees collecting nectar from the other bottle brushes, this bottle brush in particular, because of its isolation from the rest, was not very popular. After about half an hour of attempting to photograph a honey bee in flight beside the bottle brush, I captured this shot.
