Ned Wieland, Just Add Water (People and Portrait 2019)
My 4 photographs focus on the water and its effect on our mental health throughout our lives. From young to old, we submerge ourselves in water, some suffer and others strive. In today’s world, it would be a better place if we could all find a way to float. Water has a great effect on people’s general mental well-being. How the old submerge to feel young. How the young play to feel happy. How the lost and heavy float in it to feel light. And how it can make the lonely feel like they belong. Futhurmore, water acts as a state of mental health therapy for all ages and we are very lucky and fortunate to be brought up around it and for it to be a natural part of the Australian culture.
