GERARD DE ROO, K'gari Dingo (ANIMAL & NATURE 2024)
Earlier visit to K’gari (Fraser Island) and a visit to Eli Creek. Here I saw a soft side of the now feared Dingo. Earlier that day I saw these big men standing in front of their mighty four-wheel drives, protecting their families, with an orange pipe, hitting the water to scare the Dingo away. A little further along they were throwing buckets of water towards him. The Dingo seemingly not affected by it all. I am not saying that you should be complacent towards them, just follow the basic rules outlined in the documentation and signs from the National Parks and Wildlife Service - be calm, leave them alone, be aware, don’t aggravate. This Dingo found peace in a hollow dug out by some children, keeping an eye on his surroundings. I think this capture showed a softer side of the dingo.
