Grant Hunt, Leaving Town (B&W 2021)

Life in a country town can be enriching but it can also be hard. It seems we arrive, spend a lot of our time alone in country with not much around, live a fairly basic existence, spend a short time sitting around in retirement, then we die. The images in this series are meant to represent each stage in his cycle which has been repeating itself over and over for decades (as the headstone image in this series will attest to). Sure, it's easier now than it was in the past, but life is still pretty simple in the bush. The real tragedy in all this is that the authenticity and stories of the down to earth characters who choose to spend their lives this way, are not captured often enough.
