Skye Armstrong, Local life around the world (Travel 2019)

This portfolio shows snippets of local daily life from my travels in the past year and how each town/city varies across the world. The first image is of two Maiko's performing a Tea Ceremony to celebrate the start of Kyoto's Plum Blossom Festival. Held once a year, this ceremony gives local's and tourists the opportunity to experience a local Japanese tradition. The second image is of a local commuter in Milan. This image is representative of the life of a local in any global city using public transport as a means of getting from point A to B in a busy world. Image 3 is of a Fishmonger in a busy local Hong Kong market. The stall owner was quite animated in drawing her customers in and took great pride in her stall. The final image is from the Greek island of Hydra. There are no roads in Hydra, so the only form of transport is by Donkey. This image shows of a Donkey being used to transport a delivery of water from the Island's main port to another location on the island.

Images have been resized for web display, which may cause some loss of image quality. Note: Original high-resolution images are used for judging.
