Marika Oost, Making Friends with Elmo (CREATIVE 2022)

I have always had a healthy respect for these majestic animals. Scared stiff would be a more truthful description. Making friends with Elmo before a ride allowed me to build a bond of trust with him that I’d not experienced before. His beautiful eyes catching a brief mirrored image as I reached out to stroke him. The tacking rope hanging in the stable we’re carefully overlaid to produce an integrated image of a shared moment in time.
