Christina Stubbs, Maroochy River Bridge (LANDSCAPE 2023)

The original bridge over the Maroochy River was built in 1921, enabling development of the north shore of the river. The new 6 lane bridge was completed in 2008, connecting the growing suburbs and the expanding Sunshine Coast airport. A long exposure underneath the Bridge had been on my to do list for quite some time. I had the opportunity to photograph it one clear evening recently. About 30 minutes after sunset the airglow (thanks to the Tongan ash) was quite strong and I really liked the resulting light. I came back a week later to shoot the bridge from different angles aiming picture the various ways the locals interact with the river and the bridge. The fishing boats were there again and I was surprised to find the new addition of the e-scooters.
