Stephen Garth, Melbournes Winter Robins (ANIMAL & NATURE 2023)

The images show male and female birds of two species of Robin. The two birds on the dead Scotch Thistles are Flame Robins. The two birds on the Rose bush are Scarlet Robins. Both species are altitude migrates. That is they spend the Spring and Summer in the high country and in Autumn and Winter they disperse to lowland woodlands and grass lands. These 4 birds have been photographed in the Plenty Gorge on the Northern fringe of Melbourne in June and July.
