Shaan Herbert, MODERN INTERPRETATION OF AUSTRALIAN WOODLANDS (LANDSCAPE 2022)

I am particularly drawn to Australian woodland scenes. Unlike classic European ecosystems, the Australian bush exhibits a naturally chaotic existence. Heavy undergrowth is typical of Australian woodland landscape which leads to challenging compositions. So rather than ignore our truly idiosyncratic landscape conditions, I have chosen to embrace the chaos. This has led me to explore a distinct processing technique which seeks to embrace the harsh conditions in both light and texture. Four locations that, while different in tree species, all share the common thread of the "Australian bush".
