Luke Mackenzie, Moments with the Mentawai (PEOPLE 2024)

My week with the Mentawai tribe was an immersive experience in their traditional way of life. From preparing to collect durian to painting poisonous arrows. We cooked sago worms over an open fire and smoked traditional tobacco wrapped in banana leaf, each day offered a glimpse into their deep connection with nature and ancient customs.
