Liam Murphy, Mornington Glory (SINGLE SHOT 2024)
The Aurora Australis over the Mornington Peninsula. Who needs a silver lining when you've got this? After a rather large day at work the predictions of the Solar Coronal Mass Ejection impact started to roll in and I was faced with a decision, nap first or nap later? We got to the Mornington Peninsula around midnight and strapped in for the CME impact which was coming "soon"...for three and a half hours. Another photographer had come and gone, we were frozen and tired and despite all the numbers and graphs and data saying that the show was going to be huge it always seemed to be coming "soon". We were literally packing up when it hit, folding away chairs and rolling up cables. We were treated to beams and naked-eye colour for an hour before it settled down again. So glad we stuck it out in the cold and ended up staying awake for 24 hours straight.
