Scott Brown, Motherhood (ANIMAL & NATURE 2024)

This is a series of 4 images showing off all the different shapes and sizes motherhood can come in. The first image "First Moments" was taken around 5 minutes after the birth of the baby Chimpanzee shown in the image as her mother groomed her and built a crucial bond between them that will last a lifetime. The second image "Nap time" Shows a mother Pygmy Hippo resting in a shallow pool of water snuggled up behind her 3 week old calf. After spending the previous hours learning how to swim the calf was exhausted so her mother took her to a safe place to allow them both to rest and re-cooperate. The third image 'A Mothers Joy" shows mother Ceres looking up towards the lens grinning and leaning back as if to show off her adorable new born. This is compounded by the large grin on the babies face as it stares up adorably at it's mother. The final Image "Life Inside The Pouch" shows motherhood an Australian twist on motherhood as it gives us a close look to a Koala joey suckling on a teat in it's mothers pouch. Although not old enough to have fur or even open it's eyes the joey's hands already resemble that of a Koala and over time will grow into more of those recognisable features.
