Sarah Marjoribanks, Ngoolark Songline Migration (B&W 2024)
Captured over the 2024 summer coastal migration, I shared intimate encounters with Carnaby's Cockatoo groups that return along their coastal migration route with their fledglings and family groups. The birds are in search of food, and in desperate heatwave conditions, water also. They face many threats and are in a constant state of species decline. During this time I witnessed beautiful moments of individuals and the groups - WA's black and white endangered cockatoo's captured in monochrome to show their many shades of grey, in hope of capturing the heart of connection to this important and iconic umbrella species. The story I have shown is the coming, connection to land and culture of the animals families, the link of human impact with both the scorching heat - as well as the supply of additional relief of life saving water, and the large iconic birds from perspective in flight.
