Kevin Palmer, Nigel (Wildlife and Animal 2019)

This is Nigel a resident Bowerbird of Binna Burra Lodge who (with his bower) I have been photographing for what I think is close to ten years. We were all in shock at the loss of Binna Burra Lodge to the fire that claimed so much of Lamington NP and homes in the village. It was a deep felt loss for those who loved the area. And equally I have been concerned for the many resident creatures I have photographed there. Especially Nigel. With each visit my photographic skills had been improving and so too Nigel’s bower ability and mating success. To my great joy I heard in the week prior to placing this entry, that amidst the crumbled ruin of Binna Burra Lodge, Nigel is alive and building his bower. And I look forward to the day I can meet up with him again.
