Peta Buckley, Penguins of Macquarie Island (ANIMAL & NATURE 2020)

Cruising around Sub-Antarctic Islands for two weeks, I had the opportunity to see amazing wildlife in natural surroundings, in such an isolated area that very few people are able to witness. I was fortunate to make it onto Macquarie Island where I could see the King Penguins on the shoreline before disembarking the zodiac. They are majestic creatures, and could easily sit by for days on end taking in their beauty. As for the Royal Penguin colony, I could hear and smell them before I could see them, so much smaller in statue, yet not in presence. I was fortunate to be there to witness chicks being fed and enjoying each others company.
