Missy Smiley, Perks of Being a Wildflower (PEOPLE 2023)

These portraits of one of my best friends explore the idea of being feminine, whilst also maintaining your wildness. In a world where strength is often equated with rigidity, and femininity with fragility, we wanted to challenge conventional notions. They celebrate the fierceness and resilience that resides within every woman, much like the wildflowers that thrive in untamed landscapes. The white dress symbolises vulnerability, contrasting beautifully with the vibrant, wild flowers. I believe that they capture the essence of what it means to be a wildflower—unpredictable, resilient, and fiercely beautiful
