Theresa Lee, Poppy Evolution (B&W 2022)
This is my homage to the delicate papery petals and furry stems of Iceland Poppies. Artistically black and white photography enables a deeper appreciation of their distinctive form and beauty more readily. Because no one Iceland Poppy looks identical, I thought I’d choose a bespoke style of composition to reflect individuality as the narrative connecting these images together. My smartphone became my camera and a Tintype App was my darkroom. It was fascinating to see how each poppy developed uniquely, as if on a wet plate, through digital technology.
