Jade Donnelly, Retina Display (People and Portrait 2019)
Emotions are felt universally to all individuals, yet there is a stigma witnessed about the expression of emotions. As William Shakespeare said, “Eyes are the windows to the soul” thus the eyes act as a catalyst for the emotions that are hidden within. Through the use of black and white photography, I have allowed for the focus of emotion to be escaping through the eyes, creating a sense of movement, while the expression is paused within a sense of time. ‘Retina Display’ simply presents the emotions that are held back when faced with the issues in today's society, but through the colour being focused within the eye, these emotions are released.
