Kim Talento, Ripponlea's Drawing Room (November theme: History)
Rippon Lea's drawing room is a beautiful and elegant space that reflects the changing tastes and fortunes of the families who lived there. Originally Frederick Sargood's study, it was expanded and transformed into a drawing room in 1897, featuring ornate ceiling roses, a decorative fireplace, and large windows overlooking the gardens. The Nathan family, who acquired the house in 1910, further embellished the room with their own furnishings and decor. In the late 1930s, Louisa Jones, Benjamin Nathan's daughter, renovated the drawing room in the glamorous "Hollywood Style," adding a touch of modern flair. Today, the drawing room stands as a testament to the evolution of Rippon Lea, showcasing a blend of Victorian grandeur and Art Deco influences.
