Alex Ham, Salt of the Earth (Landscape 2017)

This portfolio depicts some of the amazing variety of colours, textures and shapes that exist in the salt lakes of Western Australia. That such tiny microbes can produce such a spectacular display of colours from red and orange through the spectrum to the greens and violets, I find amazing. Coupled with this the patterns and textures produced by the drying waters produce an amazingly photogenic subject, with a scale and beauty which can only truely be appreciated from the air. These images were taken from areas as far apart as the SW of WA up to the Pilbara, and from around 2300ft to 5000 ft in altitude.

Images have been resized for web display, which may cause some loss of image quality. Note: Original high-resolution images are used for judging.
