Damen Pearce, Seagulls are great (ANIMAL & NATURE 2020)
At the start of the COVID-19 lockdown in Sydney I was taking photos of sunrises on my morning walk. After several weeks of this I got a bit bored and started looking for something different to photograph. I started playing with slow shutter speeds on my camera, just panning the horizon as I love the smooth colours this creates. One shot accidentally captured a seagull mid-flight with the motion of its wings flapping being captured. I have always loved photographing birds but had never noticed how beautiful seagulls are as they are typically considered a bit of a pest. This is where it all began. I now have a series of about 40 photos of this glorious animal and here are my four favourites.
