William Lawler, See the Real Warrior (People and Portrait 2019)
These images together show elements of a young Masai Warrior's life. They are seen daily through his eyes, and while he may not possess a mirror (wrt to seeing his own image), he sees the reflection of himself every-single-day among his peers. While not all of these images are of people, they must be considered together as one, in order to "see the real warrior". Africa is full of vibrant colours, however, I've edited the images to take on a vintage look, to reflect the Masai community's social and cultural position of remaining apart from fast-paced development in the cities. The editing also reflects a point in time, insufferable dust and heat-haze - all of which are now ingrained in my love for the great continent and her people.
