Sandy Winkle, Serendipity (AERIAL 2024)

Serendipity is the unplanned fortunate outcomes from the air, not sure what to expect from above, but from a birds view the beauty from above creates a view not scene from below. Here I have flown above boats tied together to form flowers floating on the Buriganga River, beautiful handcrafted boats that are the income for many families to taxi people from one side of the river to the next. Bangladesh is a system of waterways and boats are one of their main forms of transport. I caught from the air boats carrying vegetables from India to Bangladesh and fishermen in moon boats catching waves to shore. Life is hard in Bangladesh, the monsoons flood many areas and to make a buck is tough. The sand mines were no exception, families pulling rocks and sand from the shallow rivers make only 5 dollars a day, it sure makes you realise how lucky we are.
