Wendy Dickinson, Silent Sentinels (B&W 2024)

Ubiquitous trees, yet often overlooked. Like humans, they come in diverse shapes and sizes, inhabiting our backyards, lining our streets and reflecting on lake shores. Despite their omnipresence, they fade into the background of our busy lives. Yet, beneath the surface, trees lead complex, interconnected lives. Do they whisper secrets to one another in the wind? This series conveys the subtle yet vital role trees play in our existence. Stripping back their colour reveals their textures which hopefully encourages us to appreciate their steadfast presence. These silent sentinels hold an essential place in our daily lives. (These photos were taken in the Perth metro area.)
