Louise Faulkner, Stillness - reflections on the landscape (LANDSCAPE 2020)

Our First People have a connection to country to be respected and admired. They have deeper links to the earth than I will ever understand, yet I must resolve my own place and space here too. And so I sit in the landscape by water, where I am most at peace. I close my eyes and then I don’t. I watch details, listen for movement. I let my breath deepen in the breeze. I feel. I see the water reflecting my surrounds and I am reflective, watching. There is great pleasure to be found in stillness in the natural landscape, in existing without distraction. Through time spent in gentle observation there is both a settling and an awakening. These images are part of an ongoing personal project focusing on landscapes by water.
