Deborah Pearse, Swan Life (Wildlife and Animal 2017)

Black Swans pair for life and their breeding is fraught with danger from predators such foxes, wild dogs, eels and raptors. Sometimes not one cygnet survives, this season four out of five are still growing up in the wetlands. Closely guarded by their parents they go through a fast process of growing, constantly making their quiet little peeping noise as they follow their parents around, gradually becoming more adventurous until at around 9 months they fledge.
