Venkatesh Kittur, The Flying fox and the full moon (CREATIVE 2023)
Flying foxes (also known as fruit bats) are the largest members of the bat family. Flying-foxes feed mainly at night on nectar, pollen and fruit and will also feed on flowering and fruiting plants in the wild. Contrary to popular belief, it appears that flying foxes may not be fond of moonlight, especially when it comes to feeding. The phenomena called Lunar Phobia, which is not widely studied in bats, in general. The main reason for lunar phobia is that Fruit bats adjust their movement to avoid becoming preys to their predators as they are more vulnerable in bright moonlight.
