Jesse Gread, The guardian of the sugar ship. (B&W 2024)
A series of 4 black and white images that when displayed together as a whole. share leading lines, textures between frames and a central focal point as they were almost meant to be together. The subject of the series is alone manta feeding on the 1902 ship wreck of the Zvir in North West Australia. The ship ran aground carrying a load of sugar which is almost poetic as the Mantaray now glides around feeding on plankton the oceans sugar that has been wash in with the same currents that lead the ship stray over 100 years ago. The images were taken on a compact camera while snorkeling in 11 meters of water. The chance encounter was not planned but just happen to have the elements fall together at the same time, clarity, camera in hand and stunning wildlife. My reason for picking these images to submit is that they complement each other so well, I also love the contrast and texture the black and white brings out.
