Toby Leon, Vietnamen (People and Portrait 2017)

A set of unchoreographed male portraits shot in Vietnam. Like most of SE Asia, Vietnam bustles with the kind of whirring energy and movement that makes your head spin. You can't find moments of quiet contemplation very often, and if you do they're fleeting. Each shot in this set captures one of those rare moments, with the subjects having carved them out amidst the cacophony—whether it's in the space between motorcycles, before another boat enters the frame, while a street barber's razor is cleaned in rubbing alcohol, or as the blare of techno is ignored, bellowing out across a man-made lake.
