Jessica Galbraith, Wave vs Seagull (April theme: The ocean)
This image was captured in Ventnor Phillip Island on a very bright and sunny day when I saw seagulls having fun jumping in and out of the way of waves, they kept coming back even though they knew the waves were going to hit again. I found it fascinating that they didn’t learn the consequences of their actions returning to the same spot. Using the fast shutter speed of 1/4000 I waited on the beach until a mid sized wave hit, using my 24-70mm lens on my Canon 6D mark II and captured the water in motion. I used a large aperture to let more light in and focus on the subject, while keeping a low ISO to ensure quality.
