Matthew Barrett, When We Were Young (Single Shot 2021)
In all honesty this was one of the most spontaneous photos I’ve ever taken, which I guess is the beauty around photography. I went to a car show in Sydney with a few of my friends, there was hundreds of automobiles that ranged in all shapes, weights, colours and models. I took a few photos of the cars, intricate details but I was missing a photo that summed up the incredibly close connection that humans have with cars. As I was sitting chatting to my friends on a fence, I looked over the road and saw a elderly couple checking out the a car. They spent a good 5 minutes analysing it from top to bottom. There I had it, the photo that truly summed up the immensely powerful connection that humans have developed with automobiles.
