Marylou Verberne, Wildflower Season in Yagloo, WA. (PEOPLE 2024)

Every spring, in the Outback of western Australia, some 1200 different varietals of wildflowers come into bloom - bursts of white, yellow, pink, purple, carpeting the land to the horizon, like snow. Travelling through this niveous landscape, I chanced upon a group of local Yagloo girls, making the most of the remains of the day, playing in the fields of wildflowers.
